Isabelle Alice Nilsson – a Malmö-based artist who works with drawing and painting – invites you to an opening where she exhibits a series of portraits in graphite.

What reinforces the intimacy between an art piece and the spectator and how do you as the creator of the work handle the uncomfortable (or comfortable) feelings that are awakened? Through this exhibition, Isabelle explores what it means as an artist to expose and leave herself to the recipient and also the responsibility of portraying other people. She has done this by deliberately depicting herself, but also friends, in vulnerable or difficult situations to see what it does with both the depicted and the recipient.

In the creative process of these 12 works, Isabelle has worked with feelings such as regret, sorrow, hope and joy. We get an intimate insight into the emotional life of a young person and get to take part in drawings, but also texts in the form of diary excerpts and hymns. The idea that one’s feelings and thoughts can be perceived as strong and penetrating, but at the same time fragile and delicate – such as a thriving flower bud during the early summer – is what Isabelle has chosen to work with through this investigation regarding intimacy and vulnerability.

Come and enjoy the works of art, drink wine, buy postcards, listen to music or just hang out!

The exhibition is also open Sunday 25/8 2-6 PM.

Warm welcome,
FRANK
