In connection with the performance Performing Underscore # 2 at Dansstationen on September 17th Tuva Hildebrand and Plattform för Improvisation & Somatik are hosting a public conversation with the dance artists!
We will speak about the dance archive these dancers carry in their bodies, the philosophy and ethics embedded in their somatic and improvisational practices and other topics that might come up as we all meet and bring our curiosities.
We feel it is important to cherish this opportunity to be in conversation with an international dance lineage and generation, history, and knowledge which is usually not available to be in dialogue with in Malmö.
“What knowledge and people are archived in your dancing body? How are you thinking about the legacy of your own embodied knowledge? What are the ethics and philosophies embedded in your practice? Do you change how you move through the world and society by spending time in the studio practicing dance?” … are some of the questions we will conversate about.
We are excited to be in conversation with…
Eva Karczag; Independent Dance Artist since 1986; member of leading groups in the field of experimental dance as Strider (1972-75) and Trisha Brown Co. (1979-1985); and has been instrumental in introducing Anatomical Release, the Alexander Technique and Ideokinesis to the dance scene in Europe and Australia.
Charlie Morrissey; has worked as a performer and teacher for over 30 years. Studied and performed with Steve Paxton, Lisa Nelson, Kirstie Simson, Katie Duck, K.J. Holmes, Karen Nelson, Siobhan Davies Dance and many others. Developed Material for the Spine with Steve Paxton and Tuning Scores with Lisa Nelson.
Bettina Neuhaus; Independent Dance Artist for over 30 years and certified Skinner Releasing Teacher in introductory and ongoing. Her work is inspired by her studies with artists Julyen Hamilton, Joan Skinner, Stephanie Skura, Steve Paxton, Deborah Hay, Lisa Nelson and double-bass player Barre Phillips.
The conversation is facilitated by dance archivist Celine Orman and Tuva Hildebrand.
